Analysis
Gov. Ned Lamont (D), a wealthy moderate who has put over $9 million of his own money into the race, is seeking a third term against state Sen. Ryan Fazio (R). Fazio bills himself as the leading voice for cutting electric rates and taxes, under the slogan “Change Hartford. Save Connecticut.” Despite Fazio spending $7.2 million on ads since July, three in ten likely voters have not heard enough about him to form an opinion, and Trump’s approval in the state stands at 29 percent. Lamont leads among voters most focused on the economy and cost of living. The two meet for their first debate on October 22. The seat remains safely Democratic.
