Tennessee 2024 Election Results

November 5, 2024

Tennessee held its general election on November 5, 2024, deciding 115 legislative seats. No chamber changed party control.

Highlights

  • Tennessee was a status-quo state: no seat changed hands in either chamber, leaving the House at 75-24, the Senate at 27-6, and both Republican supermajorities intact.
  • The two races that drew attention both ended as Democratic holds. In Clarksville's House District 67, Rep. Ronnie Glynn (D) won by 131 votes over Jamie Peltz (R) in the only legislative race in the state inside two points, and said afterward that the result showed Tennessee did not want the governor's school voucher push. In Nashville's Senate District 20, Sen. Heidi Campbell (D) turned back Wyatt Rampy (R) in the GOP's marquee flip attempt.
  • Across the 115 legislative races, no incumbent was defeated and 33 seats drew a single candidate.

Legislature

  • House (99 seats): 24 D, 75 R before the election, 24 D, 75 R after; control stayed with Republicans.
  • Senate (33 seats): 6 D, 27 R before the election, 6 D, 27 R after; control stayed with Republicans.
