Position Overview

MultiState seeks an energetic, detail-oriented Associate to join our growing team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience supporting clients in lobbying and campaign finance compliance while also coworking on legislative and regulatory issues of importance to our clients, including environmental, retail, transportation, and energy issues, among others. 

Associates are expected to become proficient across MultiState’s full range of solutions, working across teams to develop a strong foundation in Compliance, Issue Management, Lobbying, and Strategic Government Relations. The Associate will track state legislation, regulations, and issue trends, research and analyze various policy trends, and draft supporting materials for both internal use and client-facing needs. 

As an Associate, you will: 

  • Develop and maintain expertise of state and local lobbying compliance rules and form management in assigned jurisdictions.

  • Prepare and file state and local lobbying and campaign finance registration and reports.

  • Draft legislative and regulatory summaries, issue trend reports, blog posts, and analyses on state policy developments for clients and external audiences.

  • Conduct compliance and policy research and analysis to keep clients informed on key issues.

  • Identify, analyze, and track state legislation and regulations, as well as issue trends related to client concerns.

  • Support clients, lobbyists, and team members on special projects as needed to support firm-wide goals.

  • Have demonstrated strong research skills and outstanding written communication skills

  • Be a strong team player

  • Take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced environment without daily, detailed direction

  • Proven ability to operate with integrity and ethics, and maintain the highest standards of confidentiality

  • High level of detail and demonstrated work output with little/no errors

  • Sense of urgency; willingness and ability to meet and exceed established deadlines 

  • Organizational agility

We prefer that you have:

  • Working knowledge of state political processes and government relations.

  • Statutory research experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Microsoft Excel
