Position Overview
MultiState seeks an energetic, detail-oriented Intern to work on a growing portfolio of legislative, regulatory, and lobbying compliance issues of importance to our clients. Joining the MultiState team, you will get a first-hand look at the unique world of political compliance, state legislatures, and local governments. Interns will learn about state and local government relations from industry leaders to obtain a well-rounded understanding of the profession. You’ll have an opportunity to work with a cross-section of the firm’s offerings, primarily working with our lobbying compliance team, while also getting exposure to state legislative and regulatory tracking, local tracking, research, strategy, and coalition management.
Interns are expected to find strategic and creative solutions to challenging assignments. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking a career in public policy, political or corporate compliance, or government affairs.
As an Intern, you will:
Research priorities of unique political compliance questions and summarize findings.
Manage meticulous compliance records through updating internal databases.
File registrations and reports, such as LDA disclosures, at the direction of MultiState team leads.
Analyze legislative text and follow bills through the legislative process to support timely updates to clients.
Develop a deep understanding of MultiState’s various offerings.
Create forms for data collection within MultiState’s internal software.
Perform other duties as necessary to achieve MultiState’s goals.

We prefer that you have:
Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Microsoft Excel
Additional Information
MultiState summer interns generally work 30 hours per week. The exact days and times of work are set with each intern depending on their schedules. The internship term is from June to August, with an understanding that the intern’s schedule may need to change based on availability.
