With Make America Healthy Again a fixture of President Trump's second term in office, the states have rapidly adopted pieces of the MAHA agenda.
"Make America Healthy Again" seeks to reduce chronic disease rates, especially among children, and improve the overall health of Americans by focusing on prevention and addressing the root causes of health issues. This involves re-evaluating the current healthcare system and promoting healthy lifestyles.
Beginning next year, SNAP benefits will not apply to those additional unhealthy products in Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Nebraska and Utah with a slew of other states considering the legislation. At least five states have established study commissions or special committees to examine the chronic disease public health crisis in their respective states by aligning medical, nutritional, agricultural, educational, and environmental policies.
As organizations and companies prepare for 2026 legislative sessions, our team has compiled a State MAHA Toolkit to include:
- Glossary of Terms
- Ultra-Processed Food Definitions
- Overview of State Entities
- Policymaker Group Activity
- SNAP Waiver Legislation in 2025
- Public Opinion Research
