Steve Markowitz, for 12 years before co-founding MultiState, directed federal, state, and local government relations for the Continental Group, Inc., a Fortune 100 company. During his 30-year career in government relations, Steve also served as legislative assistant to Congressman Bob Eckhardt (D-Texas), as a director of the Public Affairs Council. He also served as a member of the Business Roundtable's Washington Steering Committee and the public affairs committees of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers. At MultiState, Steve has concentrated his efforts on creating and implementing government relations strategies for corporations and associations to deal with state and local public policy issues. He also has managed MultiState's program to help companies market products and services to state and local governments. Steve has a BA in economics from Harpur College (State University of New York at Binghamton) and an M. Phil. in economics from George Washington.
