Position Description

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Data Associate who will specialize in updating client data and assuring data quality. In this role, you will be responsible for accurate and thorough updating and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our database, which contains critical tax and fee information for our client in the vehicle insurance industry. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting scheduled reviews of our existing data against various external sources, such as motor vehicle websites, state and local statutes, and regulations. Your work is crucial for ensuring database integrity and minimizing legal risks. Position location preference is a hybrid arrangement at our Arlington, VA office, but fully remote work is possible for the right candidate. 

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Conduct routine and scheduled reviews of fee data in client database to ensure accuracy and consistency.

  • Compare database records to external sources, including internet sources, statutes, regulations, and more.

  • Input changes and updates to data with extreme accuracy, ensuring that the changes align with external sources and are documented.

  • Identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, and potential errors in the data and propose solutions to remedy.

  • Work closely with relevant internal and client teams to validate data accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

  • Document and maintain any records of outreach to government officials.

  • Collaborate with the Database Manager and other staff to implement data quality standards and procedures.

  • Continuously monitor and improve data quality.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (science (data or other), economics, business, or another analytical field preferred but other degrees will be considered with sufficient data experience).

  • Proven experience in data entry, data quality assurance, or similar roles, working with large and complex data sets.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy.

  • Strong working knowledge of spreadsheet and database software (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Google Sheets, or equivalent). 

  • Ability to research and compare data against external sources.

  • Strong written communication skills.

  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing and prioritizing tasks effectively.

  • Adept at following instructions and established data quality standards and procedures.

  • Understanding of state and local legislative and regulatory processes desired.

  • Familiarity with data validation techniques and tools is a plus.
