Position Overview
MultiState seeks an energetic, detail-oriented Intern to work on a growing portfolio of legislative, regulatory, and lobbying compliance issues of importance to our clients. Learn about state and local government relations from the industry leader. Join the MultiState team and get a first-hand look at the unique world of political compliance, state legislatures and local governments. You'll have an opportunity to work with a cross-section of the firm’s offerings, focusing on our lobbying compliance team with time also spent in state legislative and regulatory tracking, local tracking, research, strategy, and coalition management to obtain a well-rounded understanding of the state government relations profession.
Interns are expected to find strategic and creative solutions to challenging assignments. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking a career in public policy, political or corporate compliance, or government affairs.
The successful candidate will:

MultiState Interns will learn to:
Research priorities of unique political compliance questions;
Manage meticulous compliance records;
File registrations and reports at the direction of MultiState team leads;
Analyze legislative text and follow bills through the legislative process;
Create forms for data collection within MultiState’s internal software.
Additional Information
MultiState summer interns generally work 30 hours per week. The exact days and times of work are set with each intern depending on their schedules. The internship term is from June to August, with an understanding that the intern’s schedule may need to change based on availability. Interns are paid on an hourly basis at a rate of $21 per hour.
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
