2022 State Government Trifectas
- A political party holds a “trifecta” in a state when it controls both state legislative chambers as well as the governor’s office.
- In 2022, Republicans will have 23 state trifectas and Democrats will have 14 state trifectas. Thirteen states will have a divided government. Democrats will lose one trifecta in 2022 (in Virginia) compared to 2021.
